Benefits of working out with your partner

Lately, George & I have been hitting the gym together. It’s been a nice change of pace! Sometimes our schedules don’t allow it and we do our own workouts when we can. But we’ve been sticking to this plan the best we can! I think it’s because we are holding each other accountable. Some days I don’t want to go at all! But, he pushes me. Or vise versa. And when I say “hmm, maybe I’ll just go to the gym” he reassures me that, nope take a break { very important }Having each others back on this has been really good.

Here are some great benefits when working
out with your partner { or anyone else! }

1- Keeping one another accountable. This is #1, this way when one starts to feel unmotivated you have your other half encouraging you.
2- FUN. Can’t say all workouts are fun. But a workout together can put a little spin on everything and not feel so much as a “workout”
3- Success. Reaching your goals will become a lot easier when you have someone rooting for you.
4-Teach & be taught: giving and receiving  tips is great! Whether it’s about a workout or a post workout meal. All great to share and learn!
5- Connection. It’s one more thing that you can bond over. Talk about your goals, what you want to accomplish & plan ahead together.
6- Working out = endorphins = happy people 🙂 after a workout I ALWAYS {97%} of the time feel better! this will carry throughout your day together. And happy wives who thrive off endorphins won’t kill their husbands…. kidding 😉

I like the idea of working out with someone now. Whether it’s one of my friends, sisters or George!

10 ways to stay motivated this winter!

Hey hey! good morning to you all!
hope you’ve had a great week thus far, the weekend is on the horizon-

I wanted to share with you a few things that came to mind last night as I was almost about to skip out on yoga, I had to remember that I was committed and staying motivated. {I DID  go}

But how I so badly was so content in bed at 6 o’clock with Duncan. HA. ~  Something about being dark at 4pm makes me want to put on my jammies, hop into bed, eat dinner & fall asleep by 5! But I am doing my best not letting the darkness fool me. Here are some ways I’ve been trying to keep motivated even though putting on my jammies, hoping into bed, eating dinner & going to sleep sound oh-so delightful 😉

1- Plan ahead: Lately I’ve been doing my best to have 2-3 rest days. This way I know that I should being moving my booty the other days. Some may plan ahead an actual work out, I tend to plan more “workout days”. Really helps!

2-Sign up for a class! Looking forward to a fun class seems a lot more motivating. Try something new, or something you enjoy. When you know you have an obligation to the class, it’s all the more likely you’ll go. Try: yoga, spin, zumba or boxing!

3-Grab a partner: Someone who is going to motivate you and keep you accountable! It’s very easy to get unomoated in the dark cold winter months. I mean, it just sounds awful. Find someone who has the same interest in you & also a motivator! Cassidy & I have been pep talking wach other and hitting up yoga.

4-Don’t sit, walk: Walking is a great way to get your body moving. Don’t sit and watch TV, go to the gym and put on a show! I have done this countless times.. E News, kardashians, housewives. Walk for 30 mins!

5-Don’t sit, read: Just like #4, take your new magazine to the gym and read it there while riding the bike, ellepitcal or treadmill. Time will fly!

6-Update your playlist: Nothing gets me in the mood for running than some goods songs. Lately, loving Florence + the machine!

7-Sign up for something in the future: Marathon in the spring? Keep motivated and work towards your goals!

8-Bunddle up and do something f u n: ski, snowboard or ice skate. It’a a fun way to enjoy the winter but they are really great workouts!

9-One hour a day: This gets me really motivated on the days I dread to work out, think about it.. only one hour of your time to increase your health + body for the better. After that hour, you can return to doing it is what you were doing 😀

DIY workout tank top

Hey there! How’s your morning been?
I just got home from classes, I have a little bit of time in between getting to work, so I wanted to share a DIY project with you!

I’m sure many of you have tons and tons of t-shirts, that for one: aren’t your size. or two: jut sitting there. Because I
have countless countless countlessssssss shirts from over the years collected from visiting friends from school, getting them at sporting events, and so on. I recently got rid of many, but kept a few for some projects.

Yesterday I decided to put one of the thousands of shirts to use. An easy DIY project!picmonkey_image (13)

All you need is:

1- T shirt of your choice
2- Scissors

Directions:
1- Lay the shirt on a flat surface and fold it together length wise.
2- Cut off { around } the collar of the shirt
3- Than proceed to the sleeves. Leave a good 2 inches for your shoulders. Cut off the sleeves
4- Trim the bottom of your shirt
5- Flip your new tank around to the backside and thread the bottom piece that you cut off & make a bow.
6- Fold your shirt one last time length wise & trim the bottom again, this time cutting across and slightly down so it’s a tad longer in the back.

Now… go workout in your new super cute tank! 😀

New workout & prepping for the Cape

Hey hey. Good afternoon to you! Hope your having a fantastic week.

This week is flying! I am loving it. We’ve had lots of pool time, grilling & spending time with friends. Perfecto! {.. as my mom would say ;-)}
I also tried a new workout this week which I had to share. I love short effective workouts which leave you feeling weak 😉

George, myself, my sister {Courtney} & her husband Danny are leaving Saturday night after work. We should be there Sunday morning in time for the beach : )

For preparation:

Like Maine’s trip, I made the oat bars. This time substituting coconut oil with the margarine. they taste FANTASTIC!
 >> NOTE* They are a little more flakey, but they taste buttery without the butter… if that makes sense!? <<

Ever since we were little girls, we’ve been going to the Cape. Beach days, packed sandwiches, going to the ice cream stand every day, making sand castles, finding sand dollars, mini golf, walking the jette, whale watching, Nantucket, .. you name it! Now that we’re older our time there is definitely  cut short. But we savor every moment. I am looking forward to parking my booty at the end of the water with a book for a couple of days 😎 Although it’s a far haul… there is no place like it<3

This also brings me to beach lunches/ snacking:

My dad always packs us sandwiches, but I also like some other healthy alterative snacks to munch on instead of the usual CHIPS.
I like something refreshing, cool & crisp.

  • Strawberries
  • Yogurt
  • Grapes
  • Trail Mix
  • Small package of hummus
  • Carrots
  • Ice tea
