MMIM: AC bachlorette weekend!

Good morning and welcome to a new week!
I know summer still lingers on .. but this was the “last” weekend of summer since school is back in session this week.

What better way than to end the summer than Cassidy’s bachelorette in AC! We had so much fun, lots of laughs, & such a great time from the moment we woke up until we went to bed.

Here are some pictures + highlights of the day!

MiMM MIMM #64 with Girls Night and More!

We arrived around 10:30 at our hotel {Golden Nugget} & met with a few of the other girls who were there while
waiting for the rest of the gang .

We started off with some lite fare and & drinks {She could only drink out of her pimp cup ;-)}
{all of the girls!}

We lounged down by pool for a few hours, catching up, drinking mimosas, catching sunrays & listening to the music they were playing.

After awhile, a few of us snuck away to go to the room to make it a little more “bachelorette” approved before she headed to the room 🙂
Lemon drops, cupcakes, strawberries, champagne & more!
We enjoyed a nice spread while we relaxed, got ready for the night & did some fun things for Cassidy.

We each brought something she can use on their honeymoon, while opening them she also had to guess who gave it and why .. It was funny to hear her answers!
{bachelorette overload}

We had reservations at The Continental over at Caesars, so we finished getting ready & headed out the door!

Dinner was so good! {We love Starr restaurants!}
The food came out like tapas, so we chose a lot! I also loved their presentation with everything.
My favorites from the night … buffalo chicken meatballs & the rocky road dessert {typical} 🙂
{Me + the bachelorette }
Followed by dinner.. it was time to hit the casino & club for a few hours!

… I must admit, we were all pretty tired by the end of the night! We didn’t last nearly as long as we thought we would, we were all shocked. but sometimes getting in your pj’s & talking with the girls is just what the doctor ordered.

We polished off the hummus & cupcakes from earlier and the day and all got in bed.

I arrived home Sunday ready for a longgggggggg cat nap.
It was such a fun filled day with everyone & to celebrate Cassidy’s last few weeks as Miss Burton before she becomes Mrs. Carre!

Alrighty …
Off to scratch things off of my to do list.

Head over to Katie’s blog to see what else is marvelous! Have a great Monday!

Friday Favorties { 8/23}

Hi loves! Happy weekend!

What’s on your agenda this weekend? I got an easy shift at the restaurant tonight { i’m first out! } and then off to AC for a fun weekend celebrating Cassidy’s last fling before the ring 😀

Before I leave you guys, here’s a few of my favorites from the week:

picmonkey_image (9)

1- Shazam: #1, yes. I am new to this application. #2, why didn’t I download this app sooner? I already shazmed like 1,000 10 songs!
and #3 >>  download this song!  << George woke me up to it yesterday {blasting it} but it’s so chill! .. So I didn’t mind 😉

#2 Zone Perfect: I loved this new flavor. I love the fudge graham … but this one was ALSO super good! I love a sweet & salty combo : )

#3: This top- Really lucky to have a mama who can do it all! I found this top at Marshalls that was missing a strap, no padding ….  I’m actually surprised it was even on a hanger !! But I knew it had potential, lucky for me, she was able to bring it back to life with some sewing & padding!

#4: One of this week’s snacks was another NEW find:
Chobani’s new flavor orange vanilla. Oh my …..
what an awesome flavor & paired with dark chocolate with sea salt. Enough said.

4: Cass’s & Brian’s wedding invite 🙂 Can’t wait for their beautiful October wedding!

#5 Cute text messages:
No relationship is perfect. But, I feel pretty darn lucky to have found someone who compliments me so well! Also, who gives me that extra push to get me outa my shell. I like to send G messages throughout the day just for a little reminder 😉 earlier in the week we we’re going over Greek words.. this quote seemed perfect!

“According to Greek mythology… humans were originally created with 4 arms, 4 legs, & a head with 2 faces. Fearing their power Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves” 🙂

Alrighty, have a wonderful weekend! .. we’re near the end of summer, classes start-up next week! that’s a whole other situation haha. For now, gonna soak up the weekend. Talk to you Monday

What’s something favorite in your week?

Georges birthday dinner + Peach upside down cake

Good morning! How’s your Tuesday treating you?

I am enjoying some OIAJ, TJ style : )

* * *
Last night, George & I headed into the city for his {belated} birthday dinner. A week or two ago, in the Best Of Philly magazine, Branzino was in there for “best outdoor dining” so we set out to try it.

It was charming, cute & romantic. The outdoor seating was a little brick courtyard with lights strung and tiki torches aflame.
The menu had lots of smaller size plates, so we chose to share six.

>Baby beets
>Panzanella Salad
>Mussels in a white wine
har grilled octopus
>Risotto with mushrooms + truffle oil
and a seafood pasta
I like sharing smaller plates, a great way to try a lot in small{er} amount of food? … Right? Probably not 😉

After finishing up dinner, we set out to meet George’s friends for a drink. We walked around the streets and came to Farmers Cabinet.
The place was filled with candles, from the bottom to the top, with dark colors +  old classic specialty drinks. It felt like we were in an Old Inn.
It’s so nice to live close to the city, I think it would be so fun to actually LIVE in the city for a little.
Walking from place to place & finding hidden gems sounds perfect to me!

After our meet up, {we were in food comas} we came home, enjoy a slice of Peach upside down cake.. and called it a night.

Speaking of {Peach upside down cake}

I have a yummy recipe for you!

This dessert is full of yummy brown sugar, melted butter and sweet summer peaches! DELISH.

Peach Upside Down Cake
from: David Lebovitz

Fruit Layer:
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3/4 cup light brown sugar
4 large peaches, peeled and sliced thick

8 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs, room temperature
1 1/2 cups  flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder,
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup  whole milk, room temperature

1. Melt the 3 tablespoons of butter in a cast iron skillet, or cake pan.
Add the brown sugar and cook while stirring, until the sugar is melted and begins to bubble.
Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Once cool, arrange the fruit in a pinwheel design.
3. To make the cake, preheat the oven to 350F
4. Beat the 8 tablespoons  of butter and sugar until fluffly. Add the vanilla, then the eggs, one at a time, until smooth.
5. Whisk or sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
6. Stir in half of the flour mixture, then the milk, then the remaining dry ingredients. Do not overmix: stir just until the flour is barely incorporated into the batter.
7. Spread the batter over the fruit, then bake for 45 minutes to one hour- The cake is ready when it begins to pull away from the sides of the pan and the center feels just set.
8. Remove from oven, let cool about 20 minutes, then place a cake plate on top, and wearing oven mitts, flip the cake out on to the plate.

It tastes delicious warm with vanilla ice cream!

Hello AUGUST + why do you exersise?

Happy august 1st everyone!

Hello August
I love august for a few reasons. It’s like a ticking clock that summer is almost over,  so you gotta do the the things now until next year. It gives me that “back to school feeling” where I kind of love/ hate it.. when I need to start getting things together but also want to soak up the day. Also, you can tell that fall is around the corner when the days are still warm but nights become somewhat chiller :  )

A few highlights for august:

*Georges birthday {Saturday}

* Cassidy’s Bridal Shower
* Cassidy’s Bachelorette in AC! I’m excited, I’ve never been!

LAST semester woop woop

Tuesday, Meg wrote a post about why do you exercise? WHY. What is it that makes you want to exercise.

Here’s why I exercise:

– If I am in a bad mood: lace up my sneakers, put on my headphones & hit the pavement.
Stressed from school: give me an hour in a yoga class and let me free my mind.

Both of those are mentally for me. There’s nothing better than releasing & excepting new endorphins. I like to put that first, because I always feel better after releasing those emotions.

Secondly, strength. I want to feel and look strong. Lifting weights is something I have come to be more involved with.
I used to do more machines at the gym but didn’t really follow through with the workout. Now, I do free weights and enjoy it!
I love the strength I feel, the power & fueling myself properly after a good workout. I feel fierce 😀

Working out is truly one of the greatest things. Our bodies are miraculous and strong. And working out not only improves the body but also the mind.

*Head over to meg’s post where she talks about GPP fitness, it sounds like the perfect balance of mind body & soul!

*What are looking forward to this august?!
