Beauty in a jar.

So, I recently discovered coconut oil a few months back and fell in love with it. Yesterday I mentioned to my girl Christine that not only do I use it in the kitchen but also in the beauty department. I thought this would be a good time to debut coconut oil & all its amazing characteristics!

Miracle in a jar

Not only can you cook with it {add in to stir fry’s}
A great substitute for baking products { substitute butter+  vegetable oil with coconut oil as a healthier alternative}
Add into drinks i.e. warm tea {Boost metabolism}
It’s also great for your digestive track

BUT ALSO there are numerous beauty regimes that go along with it!

One that I personally do and have notice a difference is rubbing a small dab of the oil on my face at night-time, I believe that my skin is much more smooth & looking less scar free! Coconut oil is naturally moisturizing, antifungal and antibacterial. And also high in fat. <– THE GOOD KIND*.  A lot of people fear fat and the thought of eating it will make you fat. Not the case. Obviously if you over do anything that’s not good, but healthy fats is what helps your body heal and grow with the amount of nutrients & vitamins it provides.

Here are other cool beauty items you can do with it:

  • Use as a super conditioner for your hair. Apply to dry hair, then shampoo as normal.
  • Put some in a small container to use as lip balm.
  • Use it in place of shaving cream
  • Add a small amount to your bath water to create a moisturizing soak
  • Use as a make-up remover
  • Use around your eyes to help prevent wrinkles
  • Apply to stomach when pregnant to aid in preventing stretch marks
  • Brush on eyelashes to help strengthen them <– I’ve heard great things on this, I may need to try!
  • Use on pimple and acne to help heal it
  • Apply on cracked or rough heels
  • Mix with the spice nutmeg and apply to blemishes for 15 minutes. Wash off and notice a difference in your skin

  1. coconut oil is so versatile! my mom actually got into it (after she discovered the realm of pinterest…..) and puts it in her hair, as well as mixing it with some baking powder and rubbing it on her face before she showers. it smells a little weird, but it does a decent exfoliating job 😉 i need to get my own jar, this would be a good cooking substitute!

    • Baking soda is another great at home find! I will have to try adding it into the oil 😀 Get a nice big jar and it will last a good while with all the cool things you can do!
